The legendary Kurdish leader Smail Agha SIMKO SHIKAKI

Simko Shikak (also known as "Simitquh/Simitko" born Smail Agha Shikak 1887 – 1931) was a chieftain of the Kurdish Shikak tribe. He was born into a prominent Kurdish family based in Simko castle located near the Baranduz river in the Urmia region in the part of Great Kurdistan which is ockuppied by Iran. By 1920 many parts of Eastern Kurdistan were under his control. He led Kurdish farmers into battle and defeated the Iranian army on several occasions. The Iranian government invited him to negotiations and assassinated him on the negotiation table in 1931.
