The legends of Kurdistan, which have bracedf the spirit of the Kurds for ages, have been the main source of strength for a people whose history is fraught wih subjugation, insurrection, defeat and division.

The authors penetrate into the very heart of the nation, and bring to the reader its essence. "The beautiful people in the mountains of Kurdistan" are the subject of this volume, with their legends, "full of heroism, hope and tender poetry." Legendsof the origin of the Kurdish people, ancient tales of the nation's wealth - both abstract and concrete - are related as are present-day legends such as that of the building of the magnificient Dokan dam.

Kurdistan in fact and legends, past, present and future, is introduced in words and photographs.

Letonya'da misafir olduğum iş arkadaşımın anneannesi 91 yaşında.
Kürtler ve Kürdistan'la ilgili söz edildiğinde, evde hangi dili konustuğumu sordu. 'Kürtçe konuş çocuklarınla, sizin geleceğiniz dilinizdir' dedi.1962 de Riga'da satın aldığı Kürdistan adlı kitabı bana göstererek, 'Kürdistan'ın onyıllarca çektiği acıyı uzaktan hep izlediğini' anlattı. 'Sen benim ilk kürt misafirimsin' diyerek kürt halkına selam ve başarı dileklerini iletti.
