A fascinating account to making the journey from India to England by sea, car, train and air in the late 1930s.

The book describes the journey:

from India to Iraq, with several mentions of Kurdistan
from Baghdad to Istanbul
from Turkey through the Balkans and Hungary to Vienna
from Vienna to London
There is a chapter on making the same journey in 1800 by carriage and on horseback.

The Appendix gives details of rail fares in 1938 and suggested sightseeing itineraries in the Baghdad, Istanbul, Hungary and Austria.

Over 60 black and white photographs with several of Kurds and Kurdistan.
